Our Glaucoma Clinic is extremely well equipped for early diagnosis and Prompt treatment of glaucoma. People above 40 years of age can undergo Glaucoma screening in our MEH as a routine procedure. Early detection and treatment can prevent blindness due to Glaucoma.
This is the first institute in Trichy having optic nerve head analyzer.
It is a condition that causes damage to the optic nerve, which transmits information from the eye to the brain. It usually (but not always) is associated with high intraocular pressure (IOP). Left untreated, glaucoma can cause blindness. It is ‘a silent thief of sight’. A healthy optic nerve is necessary for good vision.
The passages that normally allow fluid within your eye to drain become clogged or blocked. Fluid within your eye then builds up and increases pressure on the optic nerve. The nerve fibers and blood vessels in the optic nerve are easily damaged by this pressure, resulting in vision loss.
An injury, infection or tumor in and around the eye, matured cataract can increase the intraocular pressure.
Types of Tests
Intra Ocular Pressure
Visual Field analysis (check side vision)
Optic Nerve Head analyser
Pachymetry (measure corneal thickness)
Optic Coherence Tomography
Yag Laser PI
Trabeculectomy for Congenital Glaucoma
Trabeculectomy for Adult Glaucoma
Modern IOLs for Glaucoma patients with Cataract
Glaucoma cannot be cured, only controlled.
Vision lost due to glaucoma cannot be recovered.
The persons above the age of 40 have their eyes examined periodically to detect glaucoma early is essential.
Glaucoma is not an infectious disease, but may be hereditary. So, if any one in the family has glaucoma, it is advisable that the rest of the family members have their eyes examined, periodically.

Moving forward in perimetry, we can now perform it without a traditional exam lane. The AVA - Advanced Vision Analyzer is a small, battery-operated auto perimeter that can perform visual field threshold measurements. It is not only completely portable, but it does not require a separate dark room, hence make the patients comfortable without much hassle.
Ergonomically designed which allows a high degree of flexibility in patient position. They can even take the test reclined. This is particularly advantageous for aging and disabled patients. The AVA Advanced Vision Analyzer also generates a patient-friendly version of the report that helps you explain the diagnosis better.
Foveal threshold testing
Test patters 24-2 and 30-2
Test strategies including screening, full threshold, Elisar Zest, and Elisar Fast
Fixation monitoring, eye-tracking system
The fully automated scanner captures high resolution, accurate imaging using multiple modalities — TrueColor, red and blue imaging, red-free, infrared and blue autofluorescence.
EIDON AF offers the advantage of capturing high quality widefield images, up to 110°, using its mosaic functionality. This capability is available for all imaging modalities (TrueColor, IR, FAF) and plays a crucial part in supporting discovery and diagnosis of ocular pathologies in the periphery.
In the automatic mode, the scanner auto-aligns to a patient’s pupil, focuses on the retina, and captures high-quality images in any of the modality combinations available: IR, color and FAF. The EIDON manual mode offers additional versatility to concentrate on specific layers of the fundus and further into the periphery using the external fixation target.
The quick examination time makes it easy, and comfortable for patients. The images can be captured with a minimal pupil size of 2.5 mm, making it possible to obtain high-quality images without dilation.
EIDON AF multi-touch tablet makes magnification and review easy. The EIDON AF Remote Viewer (RV) makes remote data review effortless, allowing any computer or laptop on the local area network (LAN) to review EIDON AF images remotely. This enables data access and detailed analysis on multiple review stations without additional licensing.
